Thriftwood School, situated in the village of Galleywood two miles south of Chelmsford, was opened in November 1975 as purpose built provision for pupils with moderate learning difficulties and additional complex needs. We currently have 142 pupils on our school site.

Our buildings provide a safe and stimulating environment and our extensive school grounds offer a wealth of opportunities for learning outside the classroom.

Thriftwood celebrates its 50th Birthday!

At the beginning of November, Thriftwood celebrated its 50th birthday!  We marked this occasion by spending a week participating in activities based around the 1970's, culminating in a 70's party.  Learners and staff dressed up, ate typical 70's food, played 70's party games and had lots of fun.
